It is a device used to provide a braking effect by forcing the brake shoes against the rotating drum with the help of pressurized fluid.
Wheel cylinder is required in each wheel that has a brake drum for stopping or slowing down the rotating wheel.
Wheel cylinder consists of two opposing pistons operated hydraulically. When the fluid under pressure from the master cylinder reaches the wheel cylinder, it forces the pistons to move outward which causes the brake shoes to put pressure against the rotating drum and generates friction to stop the rotation.
